			| | | Exercise prescription is a service to
guide you to the correct method of exercising for whatever your
health problem is and whatever your present state of health is.
If you had just been diagnosed with a long term or even life
threatening disease, or suffering from the side effects of
treatment, it is important that any form of physical activity is
effective, efficient and appropriate. | |
			| | | | | | | | | | | | |
			| | | | | | | Exercise prescription ensures that both health-related
components of fitness and physiological fitness are addressed, using
a pre participation screening to ensure the safety and effectiveness
of an individual's programme.   Medical clearance may be
required before starting or significantly increasing levels of
physical activity as there is always some degree of  risk involved.
 Management and Treatment Options
Once the problems have been discussed, it is important to decide
which are the most important tests to determine the present exercise
capacity and the most effective way on improving performance:

 ● aerobic testing
 ● anaerobic testing
 ● endurance testing
 ● strength tests
 ● flexibility tests
 ● neuromuscular tests
 ● functional performance tests

These tests may show up specific problems which lead to the setting
of short term, medium term and long term goals.  This allows the
Patient and Therapist to develop a programme.  Goals have to be
achievable within limitations of an individual's current problems.
